Academic interests

My research focuses on the study of transport phenomena and biogeochemical reactions in porous and fractured media. I tackle these problems by blending theory, modeling and experiments performed over scales ranging from micromodels to field observatories. I am leading an interdisciplinary group developing novel theories and experimental platforms to investigate solute mixing, biogeochemical reactions and bacteria dynamics in porous and fractured media. We are developing novel imaging techniques based on microfluidics, optical index matching and laser induced fluorescence to quantify pore scale distributions of flow, concentrations, reaction rates and microorganisms at high resolution in complex flows.
