GCN2 in cancer: novel functions predicted from analysis of transcriptome data of cervical cancer patients
Let C be a generalised based category (to be defined) and R a commutative ring with identity. In this talk, we construct a cohomology theory in the category B_R(C) of contravariant functors from C to the category of R-modules in an axiomatic way, This cohomology theory generalises simultaneously Bredon cohomology involving finite, profinite, and discrete groups. We also study higher K-theory of the categories of finitely generated projective objects and and finitely generated objects in B_R(C) and obtain some finiteness and other results.
M.Sc. Johanna Beate Stumpf at the Department of Informatics will be defending her dissertation for the degree of PhD:
"Virtually Timed Ambients: A Calculus for Resource Management in Cloud Computing"
Sex differences in vital rates and mate availability can have important effects on population- and evolutionary dynamics. These effects and how they vary depending on mating strategies can be explored with extensions to traditional matrix models.
We will discuss tests for positive selection and evolutionary processes involved in host specificity in insect pathogens in the recent study of Kobmoo et al.
M.Sc. Seraj Fayyad at the Department of Informatics will be defending his dissertation for the degree of Ph.D:
"Measurable Security for Systems built upon the Internet of Things"
Atmospheric and climate sciences have a stronghold in Oslo among the four institutions University of Oslo, the Meteorological Institute, CICERO and NILU. This joint seminar invites renowned international experts to contribute to an informal series of lectures, meant to create interaction with the Oslo atmospheric and climate science community on recent highlights and analysis in the field. All seminars will be held on Thursdays (Noon -1pm) and lunch (sandwiches) will be served on a “first-come-first-served”-basis.

This is a partial report on a joint work with G. Garkusha. The triangulated category of framed bispectra SH^fr_nis(k) is introduced. This triangulated category only uses Nisnevich local equivalences and has nothing to do with any kind of motivic equivalences. It is proved that SH^fr_nis(k) recovers the classical Morel-Voevodsky triangulated categories of bispectra SH(k), provided the base field k is infinite and perfect.
