Jyotirmoy Paul

Jyotirmoy is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow who joined PHAB in June 2024. His project, "BALcony: BALancing Craton thickness by self-cOmpression, graiN size evolution, and viscous anisotropY," received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme.

Jyotirmoy is a solid Earth geophysicist focused on understanding Earth's interior dynamics. His primary research area is the evolution of thick continental cratons, which survived for billions of years. At PHAB, his aim is to investigate the mechanisms of recratonization, specifically how cratonic roots maintain their high thickness despite experiencing various modification or destruction events over geological time scales. Prior to joining PHAB, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut, University of Bayreuth, Germany.
