Organization

The Center for Bioinformatics (SBI) is a center for interdisciplinary research, research support and service, education, innovation and dissemination in bioinformatics and computational life sciences. The center will make the activity in this area visible  nationally and internationally. The activity must be of high international quality.

The Center for Bioinformatics is organized under the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and is regulated by the center agreement and the articles of association. Administratively, the center has been added to the Department of Informatics. The center is intended to organize activity across departments, faculties and also other institutions, and will therefore establish mechanisms to ensure the interests of participating institutions in the center. SBI shall operate according to the "hub-node" principle where the center's hub is added to the Department of Informatics, while nodes can be created at other departments and units.
