Academic interests

My academic interest is material development for a sustainable society. An important part in the field is time- and cost-effective research methodologies for optimizing existent material systems together with the search for new materials. I am thus interested in combinatorial material science with a special focus on utilizing pulsed laser deposition (PLD) to grow continuous compositional spread films which enables the study of large library within a single film. PLD is a fast and flexible physical vapour deposition method which enable growth of complex systems. During my PhD, I am working with combinatorial PLD to explore the underlying principles of the exsolution process in perovskites, primarily for catalytic purposes. I characterize the microstructure with different forms of electron and scanning microscopes, together with diffraction techniques for the macrostructure. I am especially interested in transmission electron microscope and use the instrument frequently during my work.

Courses taught

  • Vår 2023: FYS1210 - Elementary Electronics with Project Work

Background

Master of Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). My thesis was a joint project between the Solar physics and TEM Gemini group at the Institute of Physics and governed a study of kinetic energy driven growth as function of deposition parameters in a continuous compositional spread thin film synthesis by combinatorial PLD. The film was characterized with conventional TEM techniques together with scanning precession electron diffraction.

Bachelor of Science at Siena College, New York.
